Expanded kitchen renovation and family room addition on east side. Warm and cozy for a lovely family. We had a couple challenges that we problem solved with @builtwithvision that ended up adding character. A very large beam going through center of kitchen that we wrapped and stained and the need for a budget friendly fireplace. I sketched up the design and Vision built in drywall and texturized to look like plaster for a beautiful finish without breaking the bank. We definitely had to splurge on this quartzite which was well worth it!
It takes courage to go from beige to a rich color drenched bedroom - thank you to the client who said “I trust you. Do whatever you want”. Love the vintage trim we added, the cast limestone fireplace, touches of burgundy and of course the dark dusky blue paint. BEFORE is next swipe over. @builtwithvision was the perfect partner again.
More to come on this moody, color drenched bedroom refresh but I have to give this new cast limestone surround its own moment. Swipe to see the BEFORE. This was quite a challenge - thank you @builtwithvision for making this happen.
A great contractor who turns out to be a talented photographer as well sent me these vignettes of a bathroom we recently finished together. Thank you Hannah Wells from R.E.P. General Contracting for the hard work and the photographs.
I had two challenges: 1) Giving this old Victorian home a kitchen that looked like it had always been there but with a funky fresh vibe for a young, creative couple and 2) Resisting the urge to steal painfully cute Luna after she followed me everywhere and gratefully photo bombed every pic. Lots of glass storage and some open shelves in the corner that can showcase eclectic items and an island open on one side to hold books and odd and ends help give the kitchen a lived in charm. But can we all just ooh and ahh over this custom deep red-bordering-on-burgundy cabinetry mixed with antique brass accents!
Love the timeless elegance of this new primary bathroom renovation. From the oversized stone tile laid in herringbone pattern to the fluted vanity and linen cabinet. Let’s not forget the huge arched shower with double shower heads and the cute nook behind the shower where we can hide the hamper and towels. Thanks REP Contracting for helping to make this happen.
Bland, cold eat in sunroom (scroll for BEFORE pic) is now a sophisticated and whimsical inviting space for family dining. The only thing we kept was the furniture - we color saturated the room by painting walls, casing, baseboards and built-ins a deep smoky green, added shelves to built-ins and updated hardware. And of course replaced the chandelier with this oversized gesso beauty and added whimsical lemon tree art. But absolute best change was the custom wallpaper by @lovevsdesign . I chose the style and colors and they helped compile the pattern for the unique hex ceiling. Made a complicated project so much easier!
Small kitchen, big impact ... new renovation with lots of charm in Hyde Park. To accent all the creams and taupes we did this beautiful checkerboard floor compliments of @edward.martin and to maximize space we did a corner taupe sink and an appliance garage on other side. Biggest challenge we had was how to end the tile so it wasn’t too abrupt. Added these floating shelves at the edge supplied by @urbandi painted to match the cabinets. Thank you Ross General Contractors for the beautiful execution.
With final touches complete, reposting this bathroom I did in partnership with @builtwithvision earlier this year. Swipe to see BEFORE pic to really appreciate the transformation.
Client asked what to do with unused room in front of house. We added built-ins and turned it into a reading nook/puzzle/game room. She told me yesterday they use it every day now! Morning reading in the oversized chair and her teens do their homework at the table before family game nights. And it’s such a beautiful, welcoming entry into their home.
Newly completed kitchen in Hyde Park - a fresh, modern take that still fits this beautiful old home perfectly. You know I love a green kitchen so we did a custom gray-green color on perimeter and warm white oak on island and side piece accented with legs and a brass sconce to look like a piece of furniture. Obsessed with the zellige mosaic backsplash - maybe my favorite element of all. Should have waited for runner and bench cushion … but I couldn’t. All possible thanks to architect Jason Schneider @cadmonk3y.
Neutral doesn’t have to be boring. We love how this laundry room renovation turned out. Touches we added for neutral interest include a herringbone LVP, a special laundry sink, openings for rolling hampers, woven baskets and one of my favorite neutral backsplash tiles. Another beautiful collaboration with @builtwithvision and @gabledesign .
Turning an unused enclosed porch into a functional, beautiful and importantly - conditioned- respite from the outside… challenge accepted! New flooring, removed stone, added new painted beams, added fireplace and huge sliding glass doors. And finally put in outdoor furniture for ease of maintenance (important with pool outside) that doesn’t look like outdoor furniture. Thank you @builtwithvision for creating from scratch this fireplace that lived only in my head until their expert construction. And for clients who trusted me on the dark blue-gray paint color. Swipe for BEFORE pic to see transformation.
Not quite finished but can’t stop gawking at this dark bronze metal hood that was just installed in our client’s kitchen by @meyerbrothersandsons78 . It’s perfectly complemented by pale green cabinets, soft gold hardware, dark wood accents and the always beautiful Zellige tile. But other than the hood, these simple and still stunning pendants might be the stars. When in doubt go oversized with island light fixtures. Client wanted updated old world look and I think we achieved it!
This new family room proves you can do pops of color and still keep it timeless and sophisticated. Absolutely loving the olive and rust accents mixed in with the neutrals of soft white, black and light wood tones.
This might be my favorite tile of all time - not quite green, not quite blue… with hints of earth tones mixed in. The perfection of imperfect Zellige tiles butt-jointed for nearly nonexistent grout lines. 4x4 squares behind the vanities (highlighted by gold wall mounted faucets) and 2x6” tiles in shower. Many thanks to @gabledesign for partnering on the beautiful cabinets and @builtwithvision for the seamless install.
Brand new kitchen in a historic farmhouse in Lebanon … but it looks like like it belongs thanks to keeping all the original wood trim, patterned tin ceiling, cremone bolts on the new cabinet with open plate storage, an island designed to be functional but looks like a piece of furniture, decorative brass rails throughout, arched glass cabinet details, gorgeous soapstone countertop, custom blue Amish cabinets….and an eclectic wall of art complete with a vintage phone and family heirlooms. It’s over the top in all the best ways!
Newly finished kitchen renovation for client in Chicago. Monochromatic and so beautiful. We added texture and interest through sconces, open shelving, glass cabinets taken to counter, beautiful stone countertops and the ever-classic Zellige tile that reflects light so beautifully. We laid it in the traditional pattern by range and on the diagonal by the open shelves. Client opted to skip pendant lighting over island which I was initially hesitant about… but I’m sold on this one!
Just in time for summer our client’s new outdoor family room addition is finally done! Featuring a stone outdoor fireplace (and additional ceiling heaters for 3 season use), an outdoor kitchen, lots of storage and a ton of entertaining space.
Had the pleasure of helping a previous client with her move to Chicago and the complete renovation of that house. I continue to be awestruck with how the transformation of spaces we don’t usually think about (such as the stairs and foyer) make such a difference in setting the tone for the house and welcoming guests in. Opening today of new Eleven Eleven Pilates studio we’ve been working on! Zen in the studio and quirky fun glamour in the bathroom. Was so much fun to work on this! Kept the industrial loft feel of the space while adding texture and atmosphere - keeping it open and airy yet cozy. With weather getting nicer, come work out with the breeze of an open garage door. Check out the studio if you live or work anywhere near Hamilton - across from Agace & Rye. @11.11pilates
